NEWSLaunch of HIPS ProjectThe Health Initiatives for the Private Sector (HIPS) project was launched on 22nd April, 2008 at a function officiated by the USAID Mission Director, Ms. Margot Ellis and attended by stakeholders in the private sector. The HIPS project is the culmination of 10 years of USAID’s work in private sector activities and solutions for the health sector in Uganda. Specific areas of intervention include HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV/AIDS palliative care and support, HIV/AIDS treatment/ARV services, HIV counseling and testing, malaria as well as reproductive health. As one of its implementation avenues, HIPS partners with private sector institutions to train of peer educators and hold health fairs for their staff and the surrounding communities, with emphasis on promoting the Good Life! at Work. Conducted by Pulse’s activation teams, the health fairs are based on AFFORD/UHMG’s four tent model and promote the use of AFFORD/UHMG’s products for the specific intervention areas. |
